Italy 2016

What an amazing trip! It is hard to even capture all that we experienced in pictures. This was a dream come true trip for me and it couldn't have been more perfect! (Sorry for the picture overload!)

Saturday

We flew separately from Micah and Julia due to the way we booked tickets. Our flight was Dallas>London>Rome and theirs connected through Chicago.

Sunday

We arrived around noon and headed straight to the hotel to check in. Micah and Julia had gotten into Rome around 10 that morning so we met up with them to grab some lunch.

That afternoon we saw the outside of the Colosseum and then headed over to the Pantheon.

Julia's uncle was so generous and hired us a guide and driver for our time in Rome. It was a life saver and allowed us to get all around the city quickly. That evening we headed out for our first dinner in Rome.

We spent the evening in Campo de' Fiori.

Monday

This was a jam packed sightseeing day for us. I don't think we could have gotten all of this done without the help of our guide and driver! We started off the day at the Colosseum because the line to get in was crazy.

(with our guide Amedeo)

From there we headed to the Roman Forum.

(perk of traveling with friends...they can take pictures of you!)

Rome's version of a water fountain!

Next up was St. Peter's Bascilica in Vatican City. We decided to not tour the entire Vatican because it would have taken at least a couple of hours and we wanted to see as much as possible in our short time in Rome.

This is one of my favorite places in all of Europe. Stunning!

From there we went to a few different places to get a beautiful view of the city.

On more shot of espresso before calling it a day!

That night we headed over to Trastevere for dinner. It was our favorite part of Rome!

After dinner we decided to find ourselves an authentic European discoteca!

We had a blast until we hopped in our Uber and Micah realized he had been pickpocketed. Thankfully he found his wallet and only the cash was gone!

Tuesday

Today we head to Positano! We took a fast train from Rome to Naples and then had a driver pick us up at the train station and drive us to our hotel in Positano.

We were in awe of our amazing hotel and the views! We enjoyed some down time at our hotel and explored the shops on the walk down to the beach. That evening we ate dinner at our hotel.

Wednesday

That morning we woke up, ate breakfast, and headed to the dock to take a boat to Capri. Please excuse all of the pictures but the views were breathtaking!

Inside the Blue Grotto

On the drive to Anti Capri

We decided to use the time we had in Capri to relax, enjoy some wine, and soak in the views. Brian was slowly turning into a tomato so he resorted to covering up with his hood. We took the chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro. I did accidentally kick my shoes off while riding the lift up but thankfully there are plenty of cute little shoe shops all over Capri. New pair of Italian leather shoes...win for me!

 Headed back to the boat!

That night we had dinner at Chez Black. It was one of our favorites! Really awesome atmosphere, right on the beach, and amazing food! Brian and I went back the next night for our date night. So good!

Thursday

Today was our tour of the Tenuta San Francesco winery. The hour long drive along the cliffs and windy roads of the Amalfi coast was little much for us so we were happy to arrive at the winery. Christian (the sommelier) showed us around and then the wives and daughters of the winery owners prepared and served us dinner.

The boys didn't really fit...

The 4 ladies on the right are the ones who prepared lunch for us. One of the owners is front left and Christian is front right.

Brian and I went back to Chez Black for our date night.

Friday

The next morning we hiked up to a village right above Positano. I think it was around 1,300 steps to the top. Lets just say I was struggling....it was basically doing the stair master for 30 minutes straight.

Notice there are no pictures going up. Haha! We were really happy on the way down though!

We headed down to the beach for lunch and then to the hotel pool for a relaxing afternoon.

This was the perfect way to spend our last afternoon in Positano.

A beautiful last night in Positano with dinner at La Tavern del Leone.

Saturday

That morning we headed back to Naples to catch our train to Rome. While we were driving back to Naples we were trying to plan our last afternoon/evening in Rome. Since we were so lucky at the beginning of our trip to see most of the sights we wanted to see there wasn't really anything we were dying to do in Rome. I had the idea of checking to see how long the train ride was from Rome to Florence and it was only around 1 1/2 hrs away. So once we got to Rome (around 2pm) we ran to the ticket counter, bought tickets to Florence, and jumped on another train for an evening in Florence. It was seriously the best way to end the trip!

We walked around Florence, ate dinner, and then caught the last train back into Rome.

What an absolutely amazing trip! Cant wait to go back :).
