Happy 4th!

This week we have had a "Texas cold front" which basically means it isn't 100 degrees in July. I took advantage of it all week by taking Tyler on early morning walks and he loved it! Now after breakfast some mornings he will walk over to the stroller and try to get in. So that is how we started our 4th this year but not until we had muffins and strawberries on the back porch.

After Tyler's afternoon nap we headed over to our neighbors house for swimming and ribs! Tyler loves being at Mike and Cheryl's house and he loves their dogs. We had a great time relaxing and hanging out with our neighbors.

We have the best neighbors hands down!

Chewing on some rib bones!

Swinging with Cheryl...this is about 5 seconds before it broke and poor Cheryl's side fell to the ground. Tyler was completely unfazed. :)

It was such a fun (and exhausting) day and I am hoping next year that Tyler will be able to stay up for some fireworks. Brian and I watched some from the second story window so maybe next year I will keep him up. I also thought it would be fun to post a picture from last year's 4th...oh how things have changed.

June Recap

The summer is off to a great start and we have lots of pictures to share!

Brian and I started off the month with a bang! We went to go to the Mumford and Sons concert in Austin. Thankfully my parents live about an hour north of Austin so we left Tyler with them and went to the concert. It was amazing and definitely one of the most amazing and fun nights of my life. I know that sounds dramatic but it was just incredible and the fact that we were down in the pit probably made it even better.

This is the first full month of having our newly remodeled back porch and we are loving it. We spend some time on it at least once a day and try to eat dinner outside as much as the weather will let us. All I have to say is the word "outside" and Tyler makes a mad dash for the back door.

Tyler is obsessed with dogs and loves when he gets to "play" with our neighbors dogs. The second we walk outside he looks over at their house and says "dog dog".

Looking for birds and airplanes.

Swimming at Scott and Adrian's new house. I foresee a lot of family hangouts there :).

Since Tyler loves dogs so much Brian bought him his own stuffed animal dog (the closest Tyler will get for a long time!). He loves to share his lovey and paci with the dog and says "woof woof". So cute!

We love spending time with our cousins! Here they are at Jackson's 4th birthday party playing in the wood chips and at our house while we babysat them so Scott and Adrian could do a little cleaning at the new house. Brian is a stellar fort builder!

They are a wild bunch but it will be so fun to see them grow up together!

Tyler also discovered a new favorite food...corn on the cob. We went to a bbq restaurant and that is all he would eat for dinner! Seriously?! He loves it and he will eat the entire thing himself.

We also took Tyler to the Dallas Aquarium a few weeks ago. I think we had just as much fun as he did.

We look forward to being able to experience more fun things with him as he gets older. He is at such a fun age and it is so fun to see him soak everything up!

June has been such a fun month and I look forward to all that July will bring...mainly because Brian and I are headed to Kauai in less than 30 days! I can hardly stand my excitement!!!!!!

Stay tuned...

Tyler's 1st Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Tyler's birthday with family, neighbors, and friends. As I sit here reflecting on the day and looking at pictures I am overwhelmed with how blessed I feel to have so many people in our lives that love us and Tyler. We are so lucky!

The past few weeks our backyard has been "under construction". We wanted to have a water party for Tyler since he loves to be outside and loves to play in water. The crew worked so hard to get the patio ready for his party and they finished just in time! Here are a few before/after pictures.
This is the "before" view looking into our backyard from the back porch door.

We will be spending lots of time out here this summer!

Anyways...back to Tyler's party. There was supposed to be a big storm roll through right when we had planned the party but thankfully it didn't. We kept it simple and had pizza, fruit, and cupcakes for everyone.

Here is the spread minus the pizza.

I thought Tyler would devour the cake but he was pretty timid when we put it in front of him. Honestly, I think he was just overwhelmed with all the people cheering him on.

The rest of the party was spent playing in the baby pool, water sprinkler, slip-n-slide, and of course we had a massive water gun fight.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate our precious boy's 1st birthday. Tyler, we love you so much and are so thankful to have you in our lives. You are such a blessing and we can't imagine life without you.
