Tyler's 8 Month Birthday

Another month has gone by...I have an 8 month old! That is just crazy!!! We have had some big accomplishments this month. The most important one is that you got your DOC band off...no more smelly helmet! :) I am so glad that I can kiss and snuggle that sweet head and not get knocked in the face with a hard piece of plastic. It is amazing to see the progress the helmet did in just 8 weeks. Here is a before and after picture. Look at that perfectly round head! :)

He went into his appointment with his helmet and got to leave without it! Yay!!!

We bought our house in March and the only rooms that were left empty were the playroom and the 4th bedroom. A few weekends ago we decided to do the playroom and I LOVE IT! I used some ideas I found on Pinterest, Etsy, and Ikea. Here is the finished product.

Another fun thing we discovered this month is that Tyler LOVES to swing. He is having a little trouble with his naps this month (due to teething-I think) so we go on lots of walks. I took him to the neighborhood playground and tried out the swing. Here is a video of his reaction. So cute!

He loves to suck on frozen bananas and ice cubes. It looks nasty to me but I'm willing to try anything! This kid loves to eat real food. His new favorite thing is saltine crackers and puffs. He tries to feed himself but he isn't good at actually getting into his mouth. We are working on that.
Yum...

This month Tyler crawled for the first time. He isn't cruising around yet but every once in a while he will crawl just a few steps.
Look mom...I can do it all by myself!
He even likes to practice when he is supposed to be napping.

Daddy's favorite part of this month was the Cotton Bowl. We had been looking on stub hub constantly since we found out A&M was going to be playing but the tickets were just crazy expensive. The day before the game my sister calls and says that a friend of her's from college wasn't going to be able to use his tickets because he was sick with the flu. The best part...he sold them to us at face value when he could have made at least $150 profit on each ticket. Brian was in "Johnny" heaven the entire game. It was so much fun and Tyler did great at Mimi and Pop's!
We can't wait for Tyler to be a little older so he can come to the games with us!

Tyler had some professional pictures taken this month that turned out amazing!!! My sister saw a post on facebook of a local (Rockwall) photographer that was looking for some baby models for a new project she was working on so of course we submitted a picture of Tyler. Here is just a taste of the pictures that she took.
If you are looking for a quick 30 min photo session of your baby (6months-12months) then check her out by going to her website.

We also celebrated our cousin Will's first birthday.

Tyler also cut 3 teeth. It's not so easy taking a picture of them so this is the best I could do.

Food: He is breastfeeding around 6am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 7:30pm and solids sometimes 2-3 times a day. He recently started eating little pieces of crackers and puffs. He loves to "try" and feed himself but isn't very good at it.
Sleep: Bedtime is still around 7:30 and he usually wakes up at 6:00..yikes! It really doesn't matter when I put him to bed he still wakes up at 6. He is still taking 3 naps which usually range from 1-2 hours each. I have to take back what I said last month...he loves his paci! I usually take it out before I put him in the crib but he falls asleep with it. He also likes to sleep with his lovey.
Clothes: 6-9 months, 9 months
Likes: "talking", big plastic spoon he found in the kitchen, eating real food, swinging at the park, moving all around, trying to pull up
Dislikes: being put into his carseat, teething, when mommy tries to cook dinner cause then she can't hold me :), bath time (He doesn't like me pouring water over his face and once I do he is done! Now that he is trying to pull up...bath time is a little more difficult.)
Favorite Mommy Moment: It is so fun watching him learn new things (feeding himself, trying to crawl, etc). He is getting so big!

Tyler's 7 Month Birthday

This was such a fun month with our little man. I am having trouble remembering much of December other than our Christmas celebrations :). To see pics and hear about Christmas 2012 click HERE. Tyler is getting really good at sitting up and usually only falls over if he is reaching for a toy. I am going to be so much more nervous when he gets his helmet off...it brings me such a peace of mind knowing he has a little "cushion" between his head and the floor.

New daddies (Brian and Nate) got to spend the afternoon on daddy duty while the mommies (Taylor and  Jenny) did a little Christmas shopping.
Daddy dressed me for church and was very proud of himself. He did good!
Where's Tyler?! I guess his name is big letters is a dead giveaway...

Sweetest face ever!!!

Tyler is starting to attempt to "crawl". He can lift his body up but usually ends up scooting himself backwards. Every day he gets better and better at lifting himself up...he just needs to figure out how to gets his legs underneath himself.

Going backwards...

One of the hardest things about this month was Tyler's first real sickness. He was kind of off during all of our Christmas celebrations so we were hopefully that once we got back to our house and on our schedule that things would get better....wrong. They got worse! December 27th, Tyler woke up with a fever (102.7) and it stayed until he woke up on the 28th. We could not get this kid to nap. We tried walking around, bouncing, rocking, warm bath, letting him cry, and nothing worked. Finally we resorted to the car...I think we should have asked for gas cards and credit on our toll tag instead of gifts this year. After driving around for over an hour he had only fallen asleep for about 20 minutes. It took us 3 hours to get him to sleep for the night...mom and dad were mentally and emotionally drained! Friday morning I called the doctor and the first available appointment wasn't until 3:50. The doctor confirmed that there was something wrong...herpaniga. Basically he has blister looking things on the back of his throat which is painful and makes it hard to swallow. Poor baby! The doctor told us to mix together 1/4 tsp Benadryl and 1/4 tsp Maalox to help coat his throat and help him sleep. It has been so helpful!
Sick baby
A few months ago I wrote about Tyler having to get a helmet (aka Doc Band) because of some flatness on the back of his head. We got some good news at our last appointment...the helmet is coming off January 7th. :)

Food: Still breastfeeding every 3-4 hours (6:30, 10:30, 1:30, 4:30, 7:30) and baby food 2-3 times a day. He loves pretty much everything I feed him as long as there is some type of fruit mixed in :). He really loves bananas and mango!
Sleep: 3 naps every day. We don't have a set time for the naps but he takes about an hour long nap between each feeding except the last two. He has also stopped taking his pacifier to sleep and now uses his thumb. I am thankful that I won't have to wean him off the paci when he is a toddler!
Clothes: 6-9 months
Likes: Smiling, laughings, sitting up, sticking his tongue out, chewing/sucking on mommy's scarves
Dislikes: Getting out of the bathtub and getting all lotion-ed up.
Favorite Mommy Moment: Since Brian took a week off during Christmas I gave him the job of getting Tyler to sleep for nap time. There were a few times that Brian fell asleep rocking Tyler so they would just nap together for like an hour and a half. So sweet for this mommy to see!
