July 4th in NYC

This year we got to spend the 4th of July in NYC with my parents. I was shocked at how well our kids did on the flight! I had a bag full of new toys and snacks ready to go and thankfully only had to pull out a few. Tyler is a rock star when we fly and just enjoys lots of time on the iPad.

Look who is sleeping on the flight!!! :)

Headed to Grammy and iPops "hotel" as Tyler likes to call it.

The first thing we did was jump on the scooter and stretch our legs. My dad was finishing up his shift so we visited him at the clinic.

Look at that man of mine! Strollers and subway stairs are not compatible!

Sunday morning we headed to the Museum of Natural History. Tyler watched Night at the Museum a few days before we left so he was really excited. We are not "museum people" but this place was fascinating! My favorite room was the ocean room! Tyler loved all of the dinosaurs.

This kid loves big city life!

After Eisley took a nap we headed out on the IKEA ferry. It was a fun way to ride a boat and see Manhattan from the water.

Tyler loves the subway!

Sunday night Brian and I snuck away for a date night.
We went to 230 Fifth rooftop bar for drinks and some snacks. Our dinner reservation wasn't until 10pm so we had some time to kill. Look at the view and sunset!

We headed to Vandal for dinner. Brian says it was the best meal of his life. I probably would have agreed if I had still been hungry after our first stop. Oops! Really cool place and amazing people watching!

Monday was the 4th so we started out the day playing at a local playground. Most of the playgrounds in Central Park have sand and a water fountain. I wasn't prepared so we just let the kids run around in their clothes.

After naps we headed back out to Central Park to explore some more playgrounds. This time I came prepared!

That evening we went to some of my parents friends apartment for dinner then headed down to Columbus Circle to another friends place to try and see the fireworks from their rooftop. Thankfully we were able to see some very small fireworks off in the distance. Tyler really wanted to see fireworks so we managed to avoid a meltdown there. Here we are headed home around 10pm.

Tuesday we spent the morning at the Manhattan Childrens Museum.

The afternoon was spent playing again! There are literally playgrounds and parks almost every block by my parents apartment.

We flew out really early on Wednesday so my parents put us up in a hotel Tuesday night. The kids loved it but when it came time to go to bed Eisley was a little too excited that brother was just feet away from her. I thought I may have to walk the halls with her all night long. Thankfully I just gave up and brought her in the room. She cried off and on for about 20 minutes and then slept great. I however, did not sleep great because I was sharing a bed with Tyler. That kid is crazy when he sleeps!

Jumping from one bed to the other is so fun!

If only it were that easy!

Tyler is fast asleep and Eisley is happy running back and forth down the hallway. Wednesday morning we headed to the airport and were off to Colorado to join the Pattillo's on their family vacation.
