Colorado 2015

We just returned from our family vacation to Winter Park, Colorado! I have to say that going to Colorado in the middle of a Texas summer is pretty perfect. We loved the cooler weather and beautiful views.

Thursday:
We flew out on that morning with the Bailey's and Grant and Mal. It was a little ridiculous watching us navigate with 6 adults, 4 kids, car seats, pack n plays, and lots and lots of suitcases!
Brian and Lance were troopers carrying those heavy carseat bags on their backs! The kids did great on the flight and the ladies were officially worn out by the time we got off the plane. Tyler enjoyed lots of iPad time and snacks to keep him occupied during the flight!
We headed to get our rental cars and we were told we got "upgraded" and could pick from the "special" row at the rental place. I think the employees were inside laughing at us as we drove away. Brian says this car looks like something out of National Lampoon Vacation...lets just say we ended up hating everything about this car by the end of the trip!

Off to the mountains!

Here is our house that we quickly named "The Red Barn". It had an amazing yard for the kids to just run around in while the adults enjoyed the amazing view of the mountains.

If anyone was holding Eisley, Hadley wanted to be in their lap too :). I think she said "Where's baby Eisley?" and "Baby" like 100 times! Such a sweet cousin!

Yay for vacation our trip! ;)

Friday:

The next morning we went on a quick hike around the neighborhood. Brian and I may look slightly tired exhausted because come to find out Tyler is highly affected by the altitude change. He had a rough first night on our trip to Riodoso but we just thought it was because of the long drive there. Well...we were WRONG! Thursday night we put him to bed and he fell asleep around 8:30 (see picture above). At 11:30pm he woke up and literally was WIDE AWAKE and wanting to play. WHAT?!?!?! (Eisley...our favorite child that night....was only awake from about 11:30pm-12:30am and then slept till 6:30 the next morning. Momma can handle that!) Tyler, however, was awake from 11:30-5:30. Yes, 6 hours!!!!! He finally fell asleep at 5:30 and slept until around 10. You should have heard me...I was pulling out every bribe/threat I could think of to get him to go back to sleep and nothing worked. Thankfully he slept great the rest of the trip but wow what a first night!

We hiked down to a creek for a picnic lunch. Easley seriously was a CHAMP! She was happy to be in her carrier while we hiked and took many naps that way too.

That afternoon we headed into Winter Park Village to ride the alpine slide.

Can you believe my squirmy 3 year old is riding a ski lift up the mountain. I'll leave that stuff to daddy. I don't do heights and I definitely don't do heights trying to hold on to my 3 year old for dear life!

Tyler loved the alpine slide and the bounce houses! Eisley was warm and cozy taking her nap. :)

Tyler and Tanner in their new glasses. This is their "cool kid" pose.
Ended the day with a little hot tub time and watching something on the phone.

Beautiful view from the house.

Saturday:

We woke up and headed out for another hike!

Grammy and iPop were home with Hadley so she could nap and Grant and Mal were riding bikes. Tanner and Tyler got in some serious exercise this trip with all of our hiking! They did great!

Later that day we headed to the Fraser Rodeo. It was small town rodeo at its best! The kids weren't so interested so we stayed to watch the cattle roping and then left.

Every night after the kids were in bed was spent around the fire pit eating cookies and ice cream followed by a little game time!

Sunday:

We spent our last full day in Grand Lake. It is a cute little town with some good hiking and an amazing lake you can kayak or boat on. We started out with a hike to a waterfall.

After the hike we all split up...Mom, Dad, Grant, and Mal went on a longer hike while everyone with kids went into town for some food. Tyler started having a mini meltdown after lunch so we decided to drive around so he would fall asleep and get some much needed rest. About 5 minutes down the road was the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Brian and I were desperate for Tyler to sleep so we paid the entrance fee and drove right in not having any idea what we would see. It was probably one of the most beautiful drives I have ever gone on. The pictures don't do it justice! We drove for about an hour with both kids asleep in the backseat. It was heavenly....well until Tyler woke up!

Today was our 6th anniversary! Happy Anniversary to us!

Tyler woke up right before we got back into Grand Lake to join everyone else and lets just say he was in EPIC MELTDOWN MODE! It was one of the worst meltdowns I have witnessed and we still have no clue what was wrong. Any who.....

As we were about to turn back into the "downtown" part of Grand Lake we saw this guy on the side of the road. No big deal...just a HUGE moose with HUGE antlers!

We joined back up with the rest of my family for some fun on Grand Lake. The boys rented kayaks which Tyler hated. UHH!!! Then we all got on a pontoon boat and everyone was happy :).
(Pictures are deceiving!)

Tyler looks so happy and peaceful when they are far away!

Pontoon boat...much better!

Monday:

We packed up our stuff and headed home.

The house we stayed at in Colorado had the same bear statue that our house in Oklahoma did a few years back. So of course we had to recreate the picture!
